Would You Take Career Advice From Taylor Swift?

She's young, but you have to know what you're doing to win a Grammy, right? Bonus points for taking the high road. Note that she doesn't mention Kanye West...

“There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don't let those people sidetrack you, some day when you get where you're going, you'll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there — and that will be the greatest feeling in the world." -Taylor Swift

More Celebrity Quotes to Inspire You in Your Career (and in Life)

We know that you're already a superstar. You're here, reading this, and most likely rocking your job search and/or career and/or gig and all of the other things busy people do. Outside of clickbait headlines on Facebook and scandals, can we actually learn something from the rich and famous?

Consider doing exactly what you're doing today, except with paparazzi trailing you, cameras flashing when you get out of your car, a business manager spending your money, hashtag Twitter-tantrums with other celebs, people taking credit for your achievements, 5 a.m. wake up calls so you can spend six hours in makeup waiting on a set, and basically exposing yourself to public scrutiny every minute of the day. Sure, it's a glamorous job. The money and the fame have plenty of advantages (and most of us would trade places in a skinny minute), but sometimes these tabloid rag faves have sage wisdom that just might inspire you.

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” -Michael Jordan

“You can learn something new every day if you have a really positive attitude.” -Katie Couric

“This is what I tell young women who ask me for career advice. People are going to try to trick you. To make you feel that you are in competition with one another. You’re up for a promotion. If they go for a woman, it’ll be between you and Barbara. Don’t be fooled. You’re not in competition with other women. You’re in competition with everyone.” -Tina Fey, Bossypants

“Ignore the naysayers. Really the only option is, head down and focus on the job.” -Chris Pine

“I think people sometimes don’t pay enough attention to what they do. I’ve done well, but the reason is pretty simple: I’ve worked my ass off. The toughest thing a performer can do is make it look as if it comes easy.” -Justin Timberlake

“You live once and life is wonderful, so eat the damned red velvet cupcake.” – Emma Stone

“Success? I don’t know what that word means. I’m happy. But success, that goes back to what in somebody’s eyes success means. For me, success is inner peace. That’s a good day for me.” -Denzel Washington

“If everything was perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow.” -Beyonce

“Make the right decision even when nobody’s looking, especially when nobody's looking, and you will always turn out okay.” -Oprah Winfrey

“There are no regrets in life.  Just lessons.” -Jennifer Aniston

“When you take risks you learn that there will be times when you succeed and there will be times when you fail, and both are equally important.” -Ellen DeGeneres
